Kelly Cooper is a Brooklyn-based comedy writer from Sacramento, California.
She is the co-head writer and producer of Ground Floor Comedy, a digital platform for sketch comedy videos (and JASH partner). For Ground Floor, she has written, produced or acted in, in some capacity, over 60 sketch videos.
Kelly has performed stand-up, improv and sketch comedy at places and shows like College Humor Live, 2017 Brooklyn Comedy Festival, UCB, The Annoyance New York, The PIT, The Duplex, and other less-established basements. Currently, she hosts at weekly open mic at Vital Joint, a bi-weekly radio show on kpiss.fm “The Dr. Phone Comedy Hour,” and is a cast member of the monthly all-women sketch show “Ladies Who Ranch,” which plays at the Brick Theater as part of the Brooklyn Comedy Collective, and has two upcoming plays premiering at The Brooklyn Comedy Collective in August 2018. She has also written for, acted in and produced three half-hour specials for Brooklyn Public Access (BRIC).
Kelly has also been a guest on MNN’s The Special Without Brett Davis, and was a cast member of The Annoyance’s flagship improv team Michael Jordan Steakhouse. She also wrote and starred in two full-length plays which ran at The Annoyance theater, one of which also played at The Annoyance Chicago.
Kelly has studied comedy at The Annoyance (improv, sketch), the Upright Citizens Brigade (improv, sketch), The Barrow Group (playwriting, acting), Columbia University (TV writing), SVA (acting) and probably a few other places.
